DUDLEY, Mass. – Nichols College recently donated more than 350 toys to children in the towns of Dudley and Webster, continuing a philanthropic holiday tradition that extends 15 years.

Nichols Athletics collected more than 300 toys as part of their annual team challenge. Each of the College’s 24 varsity sports competed against each other to see who could collect the most toys, with football claiming top honors. Student-athletes have long embraced this friendly competition, juggling final exams, capstone projects, presentations and practice and game days with the annual toy collection.

Nichols Public Safety also offered a creative way for the campus community to pay off parking tickets accumulated during the fall semester while supporting local children. Nichols students, faculty and staff were encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy with a minimum value of $10 to Public Safety in exchange for the elimination of a parking ticket, with the option of having up to two parking tickets paid in full. Some egregious parking behaviors, such as parking in handicapped spots and blocking fire lanes, were not eligible for elimination. And those with impeccable parking records were also invited to donate—and many did.

Nichols regularly gives back to the community it has called home since 1815, as well as to the surrounding areas from which it has drawn so many outstanding students over the years.
