Nichols Is Talking About Coronavirus
Portions of this article may not reflect the most current situation, and are preserved here for historical purposes only. Please visit covid19.nichols.edu for the most up-to-date information.
The health and safety of our students and staff are paramount at Nichols College. This is especially true regarding the spread of coronavirus, or COVID 19, in the region and across the globe.
Staff are continuing to monitor the situation, including regular updates from the CDC and Massachusetts Department of Health, and are continuing to assess potential risks to our community. We are also monitoring the situations where students and staff are traveling to for the semester and for spring break. In addition, we have made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Alternative Spring Break trip to the Seattle area due to the outbreak in that community.
Students and staff have been kept up-to-date on these efforts through President Susan Engelkemeyer’s office. We will continue to provide updates through email and through other channels, but we urge parents and families who are concerned to read an email sent to students this week detailing our efforts and other pertinent information.
For more information, especially if you have any plans for travel, check the following links that are regularly updated:
We also urge everyone to take health and safety precautions and measures. From Nurse Kathy, these include:
- Frequently clean hands with soap and water or alcohol-based hand sanitizer
- Cough or sneeze into a flexed elbow or tissue
- Throw the tissue away immediately and wash your hands
- Do not share drink containers, utensils or personal use items
- Avoid close contact with anyone who is sick or has a fever or cough
- Do not travel if you are sick. If you have a fever, cough and or difficulty breathing seek medical care
