Tim Liptrap
Dr. Liptrap’s entrepreneurial career and mindset has been 40+ years in the making. Encourage by his parents, he started in a 10-year business of delivering Sunday papers in Gardner from ages 7-17. He learned customer service, face-to-face sales, money management and product distribution, at a young age. As a freshman in college, Liptrap bid and won his first state contract, which led to development of a successful summer paddleboat rental company on Dunn Park.
Liptrap was able to apply his entrepreneurial mindset and love of tennis to a professional career. Before joining the faculty at Nichols College, he spent 10-years working in professional tennis building programs, events and projects for the leaders in the industry, which includes the United States Tennis Association and World TeamTennis.
His area of specialty and research is in sales, e-commerce, digital marketing, and website design for small and medium size companies. You will find him working along side students to solve sales, operation and marketing issues as class projects. Most of this work is done with student interns, who wish to learn how to build business platforms online. This training then turns into internships, jobs and small business ownership for students.
Dr. Liptrap works has arranged internships for Sport Management students at top level internships throughout the industry and country. Recent placements include the Boston Celtics, New England Patriots, New England Revolution, Worcester Railers, New York Knicks, New York Rangers, Mohegan Sun Casinos, Providence Bruins, Portland Red Claws, and more.
