Nathaniel Lawshe
Dr. Nathaniel L. Lawshe, is an assistant professor of criminal justice at Nichols College. His research interests are focused on police organizations and culture, current issues in policing, and racial justice in policing. Prior to working at Nichols College, he attended Northeastern University to earn his PhD. He earned both a B.A. in Psychology and Criminology and an M.A. in Criminology from the University of South Florida.
His dissertation, titled “A Comprehensive Framework for Understanding the Contextual, Structural and Cultural Predictors of Police Officers’ Perceptions of Organizational Justice” examines how a combination of police culture, organizational factors, and physical environmental factors impact police perceptions of fairness in agency procedure and policy.
Over the course of earning his PhD and Master’s, Nate has worked with a variety of state and local criminal justice agencies across the U.S. to provide quantitative analyses with the goal of solving localized problems and improving agency function.
Dr. Lawshe has published in several academic journals specializing in criminal justice and policing and has authored book chapters about violent and hate crimes.
