It’s a blue sky, crunchy leaves, stunningly beautiful autumn day at Nichols College, with temps soaring to near 80 degrees! Nichols shines in all four seasons, but fall in New England is hard to beat. Happy Monday 🦬 🍂 💚

The risers quickly filled as students, nearly all

The risers quickly filled as students, nearly all wearing specially designed investiture t-shirts featuring “Pieczynski” and the number 9 on the back, filed into the Athletic and Recreation Center after processing over Budleigh Hill. Reminiscent of an actual ballpark, students continuously sat-stood-sat, moving in toward the center of the bleachers in pseudo-wave fashion, helping to ensure everyone could find a seat. The College leadership procession soon followed, spilling into the gymnasium. Once all were seated, the ceremonial mace pounded twice on the platform stage.

The Nichols College community convened for the investiture of William C. Pieczynski on Friday, October 18, as the ninth president of Nichols College, a role he has held since May 2024.

Following Monday’s observance of Indigenous Peop

Following Monday’s observance of Indigenous Peoples’ Day, the Pocasset Pokanoket Land Trust, Inc. and Nichols College hosted the premiere of their collaborative documentary, “Black and Red: The Dilemma of African American-Indigenous Identity in Massachusetts.”

Funded by a Mass Humanities grant, the 30-minute film explores complex identities of six BIPOC residents of Massachusetts who share heritage as both Pocasset Wampanoag of the Pokanoket nation and African Americans. The project aims to shed light on the identity struggles and contributions of this mixed-race population in Massachusetts.

An accompanying cultural showcase included an introduction by the leader of the Pocasset Tribe, Chief Spring Buffalo; a display of African–Native American themed art from Cynthia Ross Meeks; a panel discussion with the documentary producers; and a performance by Eastern Medicine Singers. Attendees of the premiere screenings included local high school students as well as the Nichols and area communities.

Following a 9-3 regular season performance with undefeated (6-0) in-conference play, our women's tennis team has earned the top seed in the CNE tournament. After an opening round bye, they will play the winner of Tuesday's Curry/Roger Williams match on Thursday at 3:30 PM at home. The winner will advance to Saturday's conference finals. Best wishes to women's tennis this week and Go Bison! 🦬🎾
